IBS at Christmas

Check out the IBS Network’s tips for a healthy stomach over Christmas, and here are my three simple tips for managing IBS at Christmas and good digestive health over the festivities.

- Eat slowly and chew your food well (at least 20 times before swallowing, preferably 50!)

- Enjoy being with your family.  Accept them – and yourself – exactly as you/they are, forget trying to change a life-time of habits and find peace in ‘acceptance’ and ‘surrender’!

- Rather than slumping on the sofa after the Christmas turkey with all the trimmings, take five minutes and sit upright in a kneeling position (use cushions to get comfy) to allow your food to be digested properly.  This is an ancient Ayurvedic tip, a philosophy for health and wellbeing that originated in India around 5,000 years ago – trust me it really does work!

Merry Christmas!
